Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma has today welcomed the opening of the S Corridor from Punjab to Kartarpur Sahib. The long awaited beginning to this project opens a new era of cooperation, and communication between India and Pakistan.

On 28th November 2018 Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone for the corridor near the Narowal district of Pakistan controlled Punjab. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi hailed the initiative as comparable to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Virendra Sharma MP, Chair of the Indo-British APPG said:

“I hope that this new, welcome initiative can be a foundation stone for a lasting peaceful friendship between India and Pakistan. Greater cooperation will hopefully bring goodwill, unity and prosperity to the region. I hope that one day soon people will be able to put aside and forget old enmities and competition and work together for the good of society. Political and religious rivalries can be forgotten and a new era will dawn.

I want to congratulate the Governments of India, Punjab and Pakistan for making this project happen and I encourage them to support it until completion, the S Corridor stands as a beacon of hope, and is a historic step. I look forward to visiting the area soon, seeing the cultural, historic and religious sights newly opened up as the initiative welcomes cultural, religious, linguistic and tourist exchange.”
