I was invited to give a talk to A Level Sociology and Politics students at Featherstone High School. It was a great opportunity to talk to students about the role of Government, of elected representatives and about local and national issues.
After being taken for a tour of the 6th form building by two of the students, I spoke to the students and answered their numerous questions about his role and matters concerning the local area.
It is always a pleasure to be able to meet with students and discuss the issues that matter most to them. Many people will say that young people are uninterested in politics, but it was great to see students so engaged with both national and local issues. They had many incisive and informed questions about the way that Parliament functions, matters concerning their neighbourhood and some even asked about getting more involved in politics! As future voters and change makers, it’s heartening to witness their involvement in the political process.
