Virendra Sharma MP joins the Southall Big Conversation

I have joined the Southall Big Conversation which, over the next six months, will be engaging all sections of the community, with decision makers including the Council, the police, business leaders, and other stakeholders to set the direction for the future of Southall. On Wednesday 14th March 2012 I joined residents young and old, Councillors, community groups, business and religious representatives at a Big Ideas event initiated by Ealing Council and facilitated by Urban Initiatives to discuss a future vision and practical action plan for Southall. The meeting was hosted by the Southall Campus of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College.

The event was a great success and is the beginning of a Big Conversation by local people about what kind of Southall they want to see in the future. Over the next 6 months I want the whole community to have their say and to become involved in the various consultation activities that will lead us to a shared vision and action plan to improve Southall. This will be enshrined in a Charter that everyone will be able to sign up to and take ownership of. I am proud to live in Southall and congratulate the Labour Council on taking this initiative to develop a big plan to improve Southall and tackle the challenges we face.
