Virendra Sharma MP Backs Ken Livingstone AS 2012 lABOUR MAYORAL CANDIDATE DURING SOUTHALL VISIT

Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma has backed Ken Livingstone to be Labour’s candidate for London’s 2012 Mayoral election . during a visit to Southall on Friday 11th June.  

                         

Ken Livingstone visited the Miri Piri Sikh Gurdwara on The Broadway and then met shoppers and local residents in a walkabout on The Broadway with Virendra Sharma MP and Ealing Council Leader Julian Bell. Speaking to Labour Party members and community leaders at the Gurdwara, Ken Livingstone spoke of his close association to Virendra Sharma and Southall and of his love for London, its diversity and the need for Labour’s Mayoral candidate to campaign to protect frontline public services in the capital during these difficult economic times. He was honoured by the Gurdwara leaders with a saropa and Sikh ceremonial sword. Ken was warmly and enthusiastically received by everyone he met.

 

Speaking about the visit Virendra Sharma MP said, “I was delighted to welcome Ken Livingstone to Southall and publicly give him my backing to be Labour’s Mayoral candidate in 2012. He has the experience and commitment to provide London and the Labour Party in the capital with the leadership it needs to challenge the ConDem government and protect frontline public services.”
