Reprieve for Dormers Wells and Cardinal Wiseman rebuilding plans

VirendraVIRENDRA SHARMA MP WELCOMES REPRIEVE FOR DORMERS WELLS & CARDINAL WISEMAN SCHOOL BUILDS

Virendra Sharma MP has welcomed the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove’s announcement on Friday 6th August that Ealing’s two Building Schools for the Future (BSF) ‘sample’ High schools, Dormers Wells and Cardinal Wiseman will receive capital funding and proceed with their rebuilding plans.

This followed the earlier announcement by the Secretary of State that the national BSF scheme had been cut, halting building plans for 15 High Schools in the Borough including Villiers, Featherstone, and Elthorne Park and that further discussions would be had on the ‘sample’ schools.

Commenting on the announcement Virendra Sharma MP said:

“This is welcome news and a great relief that both schools’ building programmes can now go ahead. I met with the Secretary of State and argued the case for the two schools being rebuilt. I am glad he has listened but regret that he did not give the go ahead for the other schools in Ealing including Elthorne Park, Featherstone and Villiers in my constituency. There is a shortage of High School places in the Borough that need to be provided for with new school buildings so this announcement helps but only solves ten percent of the problem. We need all of the BSF programme to be funded.”
