Raising Awareness of Diabetes in Ealing Southall

On the 8^th August, I attended an inaugural event promoting diabetes awareness in the community. The event was organised by the Ealing Voluntary Group and held at the Holy Trinity Church Hall in Southall and was filled with expert advice on diabetes.  Key experts included Alice Delemare and Juliet O’Brien from Diabetes UK, Colin Stacy from Hounslow Cardiovascular Alliance, Dr Kevin Baynes, Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Ealing Hospital and Mr Doss, Project Manager at Helplink. The audience was then able to pose questions on diabetes and particular issues they face as a diabetic. The day was an excellent way of reaching out to the community and raising the issue of diabetes, informing those who were unaware of the causes to take better care of their health. I will continue to support initiatives like this, which are raising awareness of diseases like diabetes, to ensure my constituents understand and can prevent such easy to avoid illnesses.
