Recently I met with an extraordinary individual, Seema Jaya Sharma. Seema is a cancer survivor turned campaigner. Seema has become popular for her videos posted on youtube telling the world her journey throughout the course of her treatment, her thoughts and her wishes. Seema, with the support of her family and friends has beaten cancer and now wants to challenge the myths around the disease.
She wants to ensure everyone is well aware of the disease and its symptoms so that more and more people can tackle cancer earlier rather than later. She also wants to ensure that anyone living with cancer can live a normal life and achieve great things. Seema told me some of the many questions she has been asked about living with cancer, horrified by the lack of hope amongst individuals to live a normal life, Seema aims to get more people thinking that they can do whatever they want with cancer.
I am inspired by Seema as she takes steps to visit schools around the UK and speak to children and promote cancer in an informative way through her story.
Seema’s wrote, produced and sang a song in support of cancer awareness which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJYyxPXTD1A
