Harriet Harman in Ealing

140826_Harman_Ealing-5054.jpgOn Tuesday 26th, we had the good fortune to welcome Harriet Harman to Ealing for her speech, as part of the Labour Party ‘The Choice’.

I also took part in a Q&A after her speech with Dr Rupa Huq, our great Labour candidate for Ealing Central & Acton and Dr Onkar Sahota, the Labour Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon.

Harriet praised the work of the Council and local councillors in the face of the Tory cuts - demonstrating fairness in tough times, paying the living wage, finding creative ways to protect services, battling the Bedroom Tax and expanding schools whilst facing some of the toughest budget cuts.

She spoke of the importance of the next few months leading up to the General Election and the Choice that the voters face in May 2015: The Choice between Labour and Tory, between a government which will freeze energy bills and a government which won’t reform the Big Six, a government which will deal with the cost of living by expanding free childcare, increasing the minimum wage and lowering the 10p starting rate and a government which benefits those at the top.
