Ealing Southall Constituency Labour Party has nominated David Miliband to be Leader of the Labour Party at a recent meeting of its General Committee. Ealing Southall is one of the largest constituency Labour Party's in the country and it is significant that it has swung its weight behind David Miliband. The Constituency has over 2,000 members and will provide a huge boost to David Miliband's campaign. The General Committee voted overwhelmingly for David Miliband as Labour's next leader following the support given to David by their Member of Parliament Virendra Sharma.
Speaking after the General Committee meeting Virendra Sharma MP said:
“David has the full backing of Ealing Southall Constituency Labour Party and we will ensure that his campaign is given a big boost when it comes to the the time when members cast their votes. Since my election to Parliament I have worked very closely with David on national and international issues and I know that he will provide the leadership that the country and the Labour Party needs. He has the ideas, energy and drive to rebuild the Labour Party and will be a great leader. David has joined me on the campaign trail in Ealing Southall during both my by-election and general election campaigns and I am impressed by his ability to connect with voters. He has my 100 per cent backing and that of my constituency Labour Party.”
