Today I met with Dr Jasbir Sanghwal, college principal, academic and expert on Sikhism in Parliament. Dr Sanghwal is known for bringing communities together abroad and here in the UK. She works primarily to help and support disadvantaged, vulnerable groups. Dr Sanghwal has received many awards in women’s advancement and empowerment, youth awareness, and drug addiction management. She has received up to 33 Awards in these fields and others.
Dr Sanghwal is also the great granddaughter of Shaheed Banta Singh Sanghwal, Commander of the Ghadar Movement in India. Mr Sanghwal launched disobedience and non cooperation movements against the British ruling government, which Mahatma Gandhi later initiated on a larger scale. Dr Jasbir Sanghwal also published a book on the Ghadar Movement Party which was released in November 2008.
Dr Sanghwal is an inspiring individual and it was an honour to show her around Parliament and discuss her many accomplishments.
